Pulau Kapas

Pulau Kapas is a small island located only about 6km off Marang in the east coast state of Terengganu (about 1h north of Kuala Terengganu). It has quite and relaxed atmosphere because it is bypassed by the majority of the backpacker circuit looking for a more remote place like the Perhentian Islands. Pulau Kapas only get fairly busy on the weekends when locals come to island. There are a few good snorkeling spots around the island. All accommodations and beach are on the west coast facing the mainland. The west coast is the weather side has no sand beach, only rocks - it can be reached after a short walk through the jungle. Pulau Kapas shuts down during the monsoon season between November and February.

Penang

Penang is the name of an island in the Straits of Malacca, and also of one of the states of Malaysia, located on the north-west coast of peninsular Malaysia. Penang is the second smallest state in Malaysia after Perlis, and the eighth most populous. A resident of Penang is colloquially known as a Penangite. The city Georgetown is the 2nd biggest city in Malaysia and traveller′s hub.

“Here in my home” - Malaysian Artists for Unity

A non-profit project brought together star musicians, indie musicians, dancers, filmmakers, arts curators, actors, poets, painters, art students, models, entrepreneurs and more from all parts of Malaysia's multi-racial society to produce a song about unity. Have a look at the video here.

The video and song "here in my home" was written and produced in May 2008 by group of about 120 people with a budget of zero. The song is sung in english but pay attention to the C-part with short rap parts in Malay, Chinese and Tamil.

STORIES
Keropok Lekor
The easiest way to describe Keropok Lekor is to call it fish sausage. It is the specialty from Terengganu, a state at the east coast and omnipresent in the streets and villages and very much a part of the live of the people there. Here are some pictures from one of the most popular Keropok Lekor stalls or shall I say factory, in Kuala Terengganu.

Traffic

As a former british colony cars drive on the left side so watch out when you cross the road. It’s always better to look at both sides first. Malaysians can be crazy behind the wheel.
